What do you wish adults knew?

I wish adults knew what teens are thinking. Teens there days keep everything to themselves. They want to keep there emotions in tacked. Adults need to talk to us teens more often then they think. Even if they just ask "how was your day" or " what did you do today?" would be amazing, Because there are a lot of teens who are holding there breaths and don't want to talk to anyone about there problems. So I want adult to know that they want to talk to us about anything.

Teens are just people trying to discover their emotions. They are just trying to find out who they life or who they don't. What they find sad or funny.

I believe that we are stubborn people. We always think we're right about everything, but most of the time we aren't

Female, 13

I believe to much is expected of them so they get stressed when they don't do perfect on something.

When a child is yelling at you and saying hurtful things most of the time they are just calling for help and stay close to your kid don’t just let them run off and do what ever. There is a lot of rape, sex, abuse, bullying, drugs, suicide, and more worse things in the world that can change a life forever. Kids deserve freedom but they are still kids and stay under your roof. They can do whatever they want when the day they turn 18.

I believe relationships can be beautiful. And some toxic, they can teach many lessons, but today's teens think a sexual relationship is the only relationship and that is not true. Being happy with yourself and not putting yourself in the hands of others because it's "cool" is a healthier relationship all around.

New teachers need to have more control and more consequences to progress. Adults need to quit yelling! Just talk soft and go to counseling. Sometime I find it hard to tell if someone is mad or just loud. Adults seem to think they are the law! Even though they have strict childhoods, they just need to take a chill pill.

They really just need to suck it up! They are often drama queens but people are in competition for who has the worst life. Most of these kids have great lives and do not even realize it. Many people do not even have what these kids have. Everyone has their own different problems and deal it in different ways. They should all know that anything that improves your life is technology, not just computers.

What do you wish adults knew?

Response- "I wish adults knew that you can't be the perfect child they intended you to be. Like "Oh you have to get A+'s all through your life or else...." when they don't understand how hard it is to be going to school, trying to earn good grades, maybe playing sports, doing homework most of the time, and having a social life with LOTS of Drama all at once puts a lot of pressure on us and our parents NEVER understand that, WE WILL NEVER BE PERFECT CHILDREN. "

These Teens Today is a blog where I share real insights from teens from interviews I have done. They are, for the most part,  unfiltered responses to simple open ended questions I ask in interview settings. This new blog is in a pilot period and intended to provide a safe place for teens to express themselves and provide some insight to parents, an other people who work with teens. Names will not be made available. Commenting will remain off for these blog posts.
